WORST FACE FILTER EVER
RECREATING A CHILDHOOD CLASSIC.
I’ve always had a strange fascination for sausages with cartoon figures colored into them. While I find them disgusting, they also intrigue me in some kind of way. I was doing research about this product that is marketed as a happy and fun to eat food for children and found multiple images of kids using slices as a face mask. Poking holes where the eyes and mouth are, and laying it on their face. This made the cartoony meat discs even more entertaining! :-)
I wanted to give this phenomenon a modern twist, so I decided to digitalise the sausage and make it into a face filter. I added a classic dutch children’s song to it, giving it an extra nostalgic feel. To contrast the fun side of the sausage I literally show the background, a picture of a slaughterhouse. I chose to use the sausage that was most popular during my childhood in Belgium. It depicts a well known dog, from a famous children's tv-show.
